Established in 1979 the AIPD (Associazione Italiana Persone Down) is a point of reference for families, social workers, healthcare professionals and educators involved with problems related to Down’s Syndrome

Today it has 39 local chapters throughout Italy and its headquarter in Rome.

The chapter in Bergamo was founded in September 2004 by a group of families with the aim to promote the social, intellectual and expressive development of trisomic people. We intend to achieve this goal by helping families to face and solve the problems linked to the birth of a child with Down’s Syndrome, providing education and helping these children enter the school system and the larger society.

Furthermore the association promote the research and study of the most suitable interventions for the development of their potential skills. To do this, we offer responsible collaboration in preparing programs and development plans to legislative bodies, regional governments and local agencies.

The AIDP intend to organize every activity to foster the social inclusion of people with Down’s Syndrome and the employment opportunities, encourage their integration at all levels and design projects for the independent living.

The AIDP is a non-profit association aiming the mission to provide solidarity and assistance to people with Down’s Syndrome and their families, whether members or not.
